Johnny and Cindy had such a great family oriented wedding here in Rapid City at Canyon Lake Resorts. Family came from all over the US. Cindy spent the better part of a year making her own decorations, putting together and growing her own flowers, and planning the perfect wedding.
We first photographed the couple around the July 4th fireworks so they could hang some photos at their reception in August. Such a great idea! Thanks to JD Productions for the music!

And the Big Day:
Even though I hadn’t met the bride and groom before the day of their wedding, we clicked right away. Toni was so excited to have me as their wedding photographer, she told me she cried when she got off the phone from our intial conversation. Toni and Brandon have such a fun and natural love. They hardly needed any direction from me. At one point Toni kissed Brandon and said, “You are so perfect”. How sweet is that?! These two trusted me completely, even when I asked them to walk 500 yards through a field to get the perfect shot. The ceremony was beautiful. Their sweet dog, Maya, was the ring bearer. Once she did her part she went and played in the water and then proceeded to visit he guests to get a little attention. It was a great day for a beautiful wedding. Congratulations Toni and Brandon!

“The biggest rave to Roy and Hailey! We just received our wedding photos and Roy captured every moment we could have hoped for and more!! He was such a blast to work with, making it seem that we were working more with a friend than someone we had met hours before! I had Hailey do my makeup and she did it perfectly! It matched who I am and the style we were going for!”

We first met Karissa and Cody during their engagement session at Glencoe Campground in Sturgis. They were so quiet and shy that day
but when we got to Sylvan Lake on their wedding day it was like meeting up with old friends. (Which is why we love engagement sessions!)
The wedding party was a great group of people and they got a little crazy during their photos. So
much fun! Thankfully the only rain that fell was a beautiful soft rain that started and ended
during the unity portion of the ceremony. At the reception Karissa and Cody changed things up
a bit. Instead of a cake the couple decided to have 4 blocks of different flavors of cheese such
as merlot and Gouda. My favorite photos of the day are always after the ceremony. The stress and
nervousness of the day is gone. You can see it in their smiles! At this point they’re up for
almost anything, like Karissa in her beautiful Cinderella like dress walking all the way to the end
of the lake to get some gorgeous end of day shots. Thank you for letting us be a part of your
special day and thanks for putting up with all of my dad jokes. Thanks to JD Productions for keeping them on the dance floor all evening!

I’m not sure that I have ever photographed a couple with such an intense love for each other as Hali and Chase. I first met Hali five years ago when she graciously agreed to be a model for a faux senior shoot. I was honored that they chose me to be their wedding photographer. From the tearful first looks for Chase and Hali’s dad to the emotional speech given by Hali’s dad as he gave her away this was a day full of sweet moments and big emotions. Their devotion to faith and to each other was evident throughout the entire day especially at the ceremony as they exchanged vows surrounded by family and friends. The reception area was elegantly decorated including the beautiful cake made by Hali’s mom. I could go on and on about this couple, but I’m just going to let the photos speak for themselves. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Loggins!
What a sweet couple! Alyssa and Drew hired us as their photography team from a recommendation from their wedding venue (sweetest people ever) and I am so happy they did. Of course we just had to take a few photos with Fiona, the green Volkswagen bus! The couple had so many family members that traveled to be with them on this special day that I wanted to make sure to take extra time taking family photos. We were so lucky with the weather that day! The clouds threatened rain all day, but thankfully waited until the outdoor ceremony (by the amazing Mary!) was over to let loose. It absolutely poured during the first part of the reception, but let up in time for us to capture some beautiful end of day photos of the happy couple. On a side note, after the Black Hills Best list was released, Alyssa and Drew were excited to let me know that their photographer (Henry Roy Photography), their venue (Copper Canyon Lodge), and their caterer (Smokin’ Hot Catering) were all voted #1!! Congratulations Alyssa and Drew!
