Amanda + James at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn

Roy UlrichHolidayInnRC, Recent Work, Weddings

What a great couple to spend the day with! Amanda and her bridesmaids were so much fun to be around as they got ready for the wedding. Amanda was all smiles the entire day. It was quite clear that she was smitten with James and that she was so happy to be marrying her best friend. You could see the amazing connection they had as we photographed them. They held on just a little longer after each photo and giggled like teenagers in love when they looked into each other’s eyes. Adorable! Thankfully we were able to get most of the photos taken and get under cover before the rain started. Although my assistant, Hannah, somehow managed to get hit with the one and only piece of hail that fell. She was not impressed. When it was time for the ceremony Amanda’s sweet boys walked her down the aisle to James. It was a precious moment. One my favorite moments from the day was when they got to the unity part of the ceremony. There was no unity candle, no mixing of the sand, and no twisting of the rope. Instead, in true Amanda and James style, they did a shot of tequila together complete with salt and lime. So much fun! Congratulations Amanda and James!

Jim+Karen in Spearfish with a view!

Roy UlrichRecent Work, Weddings

You would have thought we were somewhere in the Sahara instead of the bride and groom’s home in Spearfish, SD. It was at least 112 million degrees the day of their wedding. Seriously.
Karen and Jim certainly didn’t let the scorching temps stop them from enjoying their special day with close family and friends. It was incredibly heartwarming to see their family helping in so
many ways to make sure their day went off without a hitch. Can we talk about food for a second? Cheyenne Crossing catered the cocktail hour before the ceremony and the meal at
the reception after. I have never seen so many appetizers… and the meal…let me assure you it tasted as amazing as it looked. Back to our beautiful couple. Karen and Jim chose to start their
ceremony by having their guests follow them back to where they would exchange their vows rather than have their guests seated beforehand. It was such a personal touch to have their
guests taking part instead of just being spectators. At the reception the bride and groom sat at a sweetheart table facing their family and friends. Jim even played his guitar and sang I’ll Stand
By You to his beautiful bride with family members as back-up singers! Congratulations Karen and Jim!

Laura + Paul at Glencoe Camp Resort | Sturgis Wedding Photographer

Roy UlrichRecent Work, Weddings

It was clear from the start of the day that Laura and Paul were so happy to be getting married. These two were so easy going! From the threat of storms and the insane amount of mosquitoes during their beautiful first photos of the day to the crazy off-roading we did to get their gorgeous last photos of the day, neither of them complained. Not once. Laura just pulled up her Broncos garter and Paul his Broncos socks and they rolled with it. Did I mention this beautiful couple are HUGE Broncos fans?! They even had Broncos themed his and hers cakes! It was fantastic! Laura and Paul’s special day took place at the Glencoe Camp Resort in Sturgis. This was the first full size wedding to take place at the Resort. Jason and Lee Ann definitely went above and beyond to make this couple’s day unforgettable. Also, a huge thank you to JD Productions for filling up that dance floor! Congratulations Laura and Paul!

Laura says: “Quality photos (like those from Henry Roy Photography) will save the memories of your day and will be one piece of your wedding day that you will continue to be able to revisit – over and over! Booking Roy and his team as our photographers was one of our first decisions in wedding planning, and definitely one of our best. Their attention to detail and willingness to do what it takes to get the right shot make them the absolute best at what they do. We are so beyond thankful to the whole team for giving us the ability to look back on our day and relive the moments that made it the best day ever!! Thank you!!”
